The original register is in Hebrew; it has been transcribed, but dates have been left in the Jewish Calendar. To avoid confusion in using the index, and give an idea of the year of the event to non-Jewish researchers, 3681 has been deducted from the year given in the register to give a year A.D. Since the Jewish New Year is not 1 January, nor indeed any fixed day of the year, this A.D. year can be a year out from the correct one. To find the entry in the printed edition, 3681 needs to be added to the year given in the index.
