Search Phrase
Enter one or more words to carry out a Google-like search across the Volume text. You can search for any text in the Volume, e.g. names, occupations, place - multiple words are searched in any order (see examples below).

Note that in some Volumes a ditto is used to represent a repeated surname and since the results are grouped within a 5-word proximity zone, in some cases a better result will be achieved by just entering the Last name and reviewing the page image.

Note that NameX isn’t active on searching the Probate Record Collection.
Search Example Action
Smith Search for pages containing Smith.
John Smith Search for pages containing John AND Smith.


Year range
Year range specifies which Volumes will be included in the search. Any Volume which covers dates within the year range entered will be included in the search.

Viewing the images
On the Snippet page click the Image button to display the image of the Volume page containing that snippet text. You can then browse backwards and forwards through the Volume pages using the Next and Previous buttons.

Locating original documents
To find details of where the original documents are held see the detailed About page for that Volume.
Click here to see a list of all volumes, then select a Volume title from the list to view more details about that volume, including where the originals are held.
