NEW! Cantwell's Memorials of the Dead now available on Irish Origins
Between c.1970-1990 Brian J. Cantwell transcribed and published 11 volumes of graveyard transcriptions primarily covering Counties Wicklow, Wexford and South Dublin.
Cantwell's original typewritten records have all been scanned and are available now on Irish Origins as digitised images. All the names in the transcriptions have been indexed - over 60,000 people are mentioned covering all visible and legible memorials in graveyards that had a date of 1880 or before and all surviving interior church memorials.

As a researcher, I have found this source particularly useful for a number of reasons.... Cantwell's collection ensures that our own and future generations can access these inscriptions that are no longer legible or available on site... In one instance, I used Cantwell's Memorials of the Dead to make a breakthrough in my own research... Although I might have found this information eventually after ploughing through many parish registers and searching among hundreds of graves, my research was expedited by Cantwell's work.
